My Hero, PFC Lori Ann Piestewa

I proudly wear my Hero Bracelet bearing the name of Pfc Lori Ann Piestewa. Piestewa was the first Native American Woman to be killed in combat.  She was from Tuba City Arizona, where my hero, my dad lives.  My dad is a Korean War Veteran.  He took me to Piestewa Peak, formerly known as Squaw Peak.  I felt a closeness to my dad I have never felt, and a deep gratitude for his sacrifice as well as the sacrifice Pfc Piestewa gave for her country. I am a photographer at Lackland Air Force Base, an...

Our Hero, Payton Levenhagen.

Right now, I'm smiling fondly at a photo of my son, Payton, when he was 3-yrs-old.  Back then, Payton viewed his father as the hero. His father, the brave firefighter, that always had time to take Payton hunting or fishing.  Never put himself before the needs of little Payton.  Taught by example.  Showed Payton strength and a never-ending fatherly love, a love that is only understood between a father and son.   An understanding, a bond, a support system, a friendship, an 'I would go to war f...

My Hero, Capt. Jeffrey P. Toczylowski.

I chose to wear the bracelet of Capt. Jeffrey P. Toczylowski for two reasons. I was asked by a friend of the Toscylowski family to participate in a golf outing last year, honoring his memory and service to our country. I partnered with one of Montgomery County’s finest District Attorney’s, Bob Sander, and we had a great day on the “links” golfing in honor of this hero who lost his life in Iraq in 2005. Fast forward to 9/11/08. Montgomery County PA held a memorial service for “9/11”, including...
